Rodent Svoboda's playful exuberance is utterly infectious. Oh, you'll want to scrutinize and compare the version of "Growing (out of nothing)" with the version on her Vegetable Bass album. (It's a tune I hum a lot.) This album really cements her spot high on my list of favorite young composers. This collaboration is the bee's knees, and essential for any serious collector to own. Favorite track: Growing (out of nothing).

Peter Breen This is the arrival of remarkableness -as usual from this duo. Love it.

‘Since Subito' is the long-awaited sophomore album of MEATSHELL - the experimental-folk duo comprising the distinctive musical voices of two emerging Australian artists, Helen Svoboda (double bass/voice) and Andrew Saragossi (tenor saxophone).

Recorded in the Netherlands one week before the first lockdown, this body of music is the culmination of the duo's experiences living in Europe between 2018-2020. A musical manifestation of their interpretation of the concepts and principles underpinning the cubist art movement, the album has a particular focus on juxtaposition and simultaneous revealing of various, sometimes clashing perspectives of one idea, a stark departure from their largely homogenous debut release 'Afar' (2019 MADE NOW MUSIC).

MEATSHELL’s quirky and abstract songwriting style is on full display in 'Since Subito', reflecting their shared passion for the unorthodox and ambition of illustrating the full emotional spectrum of the human condition. Sincere, beautiful melodies and euphoric grooves are boldly juxtaposed with moments of mystery, desperation and screaming chaos, as the duo contemplate climate change, mental illness and new birth.
